Surron
Surron Light Bee X Rear Sprocket – 42T or 48T
Surron Light Bee X Rear Sprocket – 42T or 48T
Genuine Surron rear sprocket for the Light Bee X and L1E, available in 42-tooth and 48-tooth gearing options.
Choose the standard 48T sprocket for balanced off-road performance, or the smaller 42T sprocket for taller gearing suited to road and supermoto-style riding.
Which sprocket should you choose?
| Size | Best suited to | Gearing effect | Typical chain |
|---|---|---|---|
| 42T | Road, commuting and supermoto setups | Taller gearing with reduced wheel torque and greater potential top speed | 102-link 420 chain |
| 48T | Trail, farm and general recreational riding | Standard all-round balance of acceleration and top speed | 106-link 420 chain |
42T – taller road and supermoto gearing
The smaller 42-tooth sprocket produces taller final-drive gearing. Compared with a 48T sprocket, it reduces rear-wheel torque but allows the wheel to turn faster at the same motor speed.
- Suited to road and supermoto-style riding
- Reduces motor RPM at a given road speed
- May increase potential top speed where the motor, controller and battery allow
- Less acceleration and hill-climbing ability than the 48T sprocket
- Normally paired with a 102-link 420 chain
48T – standard all-round gearing
The 48-tooth sprocket is the standard Light Bee X gearing and provides a balanced combination of acceleration, climbing ability and top speed.
- Best all-round choice for most Light Bee X riders
- Suitable for trail, farm and mixed recreational use
- Stronger acceleration and climbing ability than the 42T sprocket
- Maintains the bike’s standard gearing characteristics
- Normally paired with a 106-link 420 chain

Chain compatibility
Changing sprocket size may require a different chain length:
- 42T: normally used with a 102-link 420 chain
- 48T: normally used with a 106-link 420 chain
Chain length can also be affected by wheel size, axle adjustment and other drivetrain modifications. Confirm the required chain length before installation.
What is included?
- One genuine Surron rear sprocket in the selected tooth count
Not included
- Drive chain
- Sprocket bolts or mounting hardware
- Rear wheel or hub
Installation
Inspect the existing chain and front sprocket before installing a new rear sprocket. A stretched or worn chain can cause accelerated wear and poor drivetrain operation.
Professional installation is recommended. Check sprocket alignment, chain length, chain tension, rear wheel alignment and mounting hardware before riding.
Shock Moto can supply the matching chain and install the sprocket at our Wellington workshop.
