Upgrade or replace your Surron Light Bee X rear sprocket with a lightweight 7075 aluminium sprocket designed for a 420-pitch drive chain.

Choose the factory-style 48T gearing for a balanced mix of acceleration and top speed, or move to the larger 52T sprocket for stronger acceleration, improved climbing performance and better low-speed control off-road.

Which sprocket should you choose?

Size Best for Gearing effect Suggested chain length
48T General riding and factory-style replacement Balanced acceleration and top speed Approximately 106 links
52T Trails, hills and technical off-road riding Stronger acceleration with a small reduction in potential top speed Approximately 108 links

48T – balanced factory-style gearing

The 48-tooth sprocket matches the standard Light Bee X tooth count. It is the best choice when replacing a worn sprocket without intentionally changing the bike’s gearing.

  • Balanced acceleration and top speed
  • Suitable for trail, farm and general recreational riding
  • Works with the standard 420-pitch drivetrain
  • Normally paired with a 106-link chain

52T – increased acceleration and climbing ability

The larger 52-tooth sprocket lowers the final-drive gearing, delivering stronger acceleration and improved control at lower speeds. It is a popular choice for riders tackling steep climbs, loose terrain and technical trails.

  • Stronger low-speed pull and acceleration
  • Improved climbing performance
  • More controlled power delivery through technical terrain
  • Small reduction in potential top speed
  • Normally requires a longer 108-link chain

Chain requirements

The 48T sprocket will generally work with the standard 106-link Light Bee X chain when the chain and adjuster range are in suitable condition.

When changing to a 52T sprocket, a longer chain will normally be required. A 108-link 420 chain is the commonly recommended size for a standard Light Bee X wheel and drivetrain setup.

Required chain length can vary with wheel size, chain adjustment, sprocket combinations and other drivetrain modifications. Confirm the required length before installation.

What is included?

  • One rear sprocket in the selected tooth count and colour

Not included

  • Drive chain
  • Sprocket bolts or mounting hardware
  • Rear wheel or hub

Installation

Inspect the chain and front sprocket before installing a new rear sprocket. A worn or stretched chain can cause accelerated wear on the new sprocket and may result in poor drivetrain operation.

Professional installation is recommended. After installation, check sprocket alignment, chain length, chain tension, rear wheel alignment and all mounting hardware before riding.

Shock Moto can also supply the appropriate chain and install the sprocket at our Wellington workshop.
